강릉 Gangneung

Gangneung has been on the top of my to-go list for a very long time. Maybe it was because of my infatuation with the sea and beaches but we decided to make a trip down despite the relatively chilly weather (late Autumn).

It only took us two hours to get there using the KTX train. To maximise the limited amount of time we had there, we decided to visit all 3 beaches Gangneung was famous for, so we took buses from one end of the city to the other end.

Each beach has its own uniqueness, but our favourites would probably have to be Anmok and Gangmun. Anmok beach is famous for the cafes that line the beach, allowing you to enjoy your tea or coffee as you admire the view. If you walk further down, you'll also be able to see lighthouses! Gangmun beach on the other hand, is famous for its photo spots. There are various cutely shaped seats/structures for you to take photos at.

All in all, Gangneung didn't disappoint. Be it just sitting on a swing and snacking while enjoying the sea breeze or walking along the sandy beach, Gangneung is a great escape from the city.

포천 Pocheon

It was pretty hard to navigate around Pocheon - simply because most of the attractions are located pretty far away from each other, and the bus stops are really hard to decipher. Because of the infrequent bus timings we also spent most of our time walking from one place to the next.

Pocheon was slightly disappointing because the nature sights were underwhelming but nevertheless, I feel like Pocheon has a lot of potential.

With a bit more maintenance and tweaking here and there, there will be a lot to offer.

군산 Gunsan

Gunsan is a very small town with many old school buildings and structures that are still intact! The railway village is the main attraction of the town, but it was much smaller and had lesser to offer than expected.

Nevertheless, Gunsan is still a nice place to go for maybe a half day~day trip!

경춘선숲길 Gyeongchun Line (Railroad) Forest

The Gyeongchun line was the first railway built and it was built during the Japanese colonial era. It has been preserved since then and now is a park filled with various trains that were used in the past!

Was truly nice to take a nostalgic slow walk along the railway and also admire the Autumn foliage.
